Tune Of The Day: Can’t Fight The Feeling By Sunkissed Child

Josh Crowe

With Can't Fight The Feeling, London-based artist Sunkissed Child cements her place as a rising force in the UK Neo-Soul scene. Fusing deep basslines, groovy horns, and raw storytelling, the track is a rich and textured offering that blends nostalgia with a fresh, modern twist. A first taste of her upcoming debut EP, Can't Fight The Feeling finds Yasmina—aka Sunkissed Child—tapping into her signature mix of soul, alt-R&B, and jazz-infused influences while weaving in deeply personal themes of mental health and healing.

From the very first note, Can't Fight The Feeling transports listeners to a sun-soaked, groove-heavy soundscape, where Yasmina's buttery vocals glide effortlessly over crisp instrumentation. The track’s bright energy might suggest a carefree anthem, but beneath the surface, it tells a more complex story—a juxtaposition reminiscent of Outkast’s famous contrast between upbeat melodies and introspective lyrics. As Sunkissed Child sings about internal battles and the struggle for emotional balance, she does so with a delivery so smooth that you almost forget she’s baring her soul.

Beyond the music, Sunkissed Child invites fans to experience her world through more than just sound. She has curated a playlist designed to be enjoyed alongside Dates and Tea, offering a multi-sensory journey that pairs the warmth of her music with rich, comforting flavors. It’s an intimate, personal touch that showcases her commitment to storytelling beyond the traditional song format.

Since her debut in 2022, Sunkissed Child has been carving out a unique space in the industry, with support from BBC Radio 6’s Tom Robinson and Jamz Supernova on Selector Radio. Having already performed at major festivals like We Out Here and Sound of Europe, her rise has been undeniable. Now, with Can't Fight The Feeling and an EP on the horizon, it’s clear that she is just getting started.
