Tracks That Shaped My Sound: girli

Welcome to a new era for Girli, where her latest album, "Matriarchy," serves as a vibrant testament to her evolution as an artist and as a voice for the LGBTQIA+ community. With full creative control, Girli embarks on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, crafting an album that is both bright and evocative, insightful and honest.

From the anthemic opener, "Be With Me," Girli sets the tone for "Matriarchy," a collection of tracks drenched in electro-pop sheen and layered with open-hearted lyrics. Reflecting on her own experiences of growth, healing, and self-acceptance, Girli invites listeners into her world of pain and joy, of setting boundaries and finding strength in vulnerability.

Key highlights of "Matriarchy" include the intoxicating allure of "Crush Me Up," the celebration of queer female love in "Nothing Hurts Like a Girl," and the anthem of queer power in the title track, "Matriarchy." Each song is a testament to Girli's unfiltered expression and bold creativity, showcasing her ability to navigate complex emotions with grace and honesty.

Slow Burn - Kacey Musgraves Slow Burn - Kacey Musgraves

I listened a lot to her record Golden Hour while making Matriarchy - I love her songwriting and the tone of the guitars and production. I’d love to write some songs in Nashville one day, pop music with country songwriting sensibilities SLAPS.

Do Me - Kim Petras

Kim Petras is pop perfection. The big chords, the extravagant production, the powerful melodies! This song inspired the production for Crush Me Up.

Stayaway - MUNA

I love Katie Gavin’s voice and the layered multi genre- fused production of MUNA’s Saves The World and self titled albums. This song is so achingly beautiful. I channelled these vibes on my album track Made to Break.

Opening - Dora Jar

Her production is so interesting and quirky - I played her songs a lot in writing sessions for the album to get inspired to go outside the box with sounds.
