Thabo: Tracks That Shaped My Sound

German artist and Home Again Records founder Nils 'Thabo' Gelfort (also the founder of Home Again Club Festival in Berlin), has released a banging and eclectic 4 tracker for the awesome Dansu Discs label covering grounds of house, emotive trance & breaks.

Gang Starr ft. KC & Jojo - Royalty

Gang Starr's "Moment Of Truth" stands as my ultimate favorite 90s Hip Hop Album. Its sound resonates deeply as the defining soundtrack of my youth. The New York rap essence, in particular, held a prominent place on my Mini Disc Player, playing on repeat endlessly. I believe that the musical vibe from that era continues to profoundly influence how I perceive and produce music to this day.

Bucketheads - The Bomb

The inaugural electronic music track I spun in front of a live audience was during my Erasmus studies in Tenerife. I used to share the decks with my close friend Eugenio from Rome, going back to back. It's a memory that floods me with nostalgia for those wonderful times.

Traumer - Hoodlum

In Ibiza, back in 2014, I experienced the White Island for the very first time and it was an eye-opener to the sheer magnitude of this industry. There was one track that defined the entire season for me, and it happened to be my absolute favorite release from Desolat.

LTJ Bukem - Atlantis

Drum and bass played a significant role during my early clubbing years. Places like ICON, die Insel, or Geburtstagsclub regularly featured prominent UK artists. One vivid memory stands out: witnessing LTJ Bukem's performance at ICON. The atmosphere was electric, with sweat dripping from the ceiling as everyone was entranced by the music.

Absolute Beginner - Rock On

My musical odyssey owes a lot to German hip-hop. I recall purchasing a single and eagerly sharing it with friends who were solely into US RnB and hip-hop. There was a fresh, distinct quality about it. While we all understood English, this felt more direct, hitting you right in the face. As the rivalry between Berlin and Hamburg escalated, despite being a Berliner, I have to admit that Hamburg emerged victorious in that battle.

Be sure to check out his forthcoming EP released on his own ‘Home Again Data’ label. It's a EP spanning early 00's house, atmospheric minimal and liquid drum & bass, it also includes a killer remix from Kawaii San. This is set to be released on the 15th December.
