TC & The Groove Family and Birmingham’s SANITY Collaborate on ‘Wile Out’

TC & The Groove Family is back with a bang, and this time they’ve got Birmingham’s SANITY in their corner. Their new jungle-tinged hip-hop track ‘Wile Out’ hits the airwaves on May 9th, and it’s a high-energy, bass-heavy anthem. This release is the second single from the band’s forthcoming EP, ‘We Have Each Other’, scheduled to drop on June 7th.

‘Wile Out’ is a collaboration that marries the talents of some of the UK's most innovative underground hip-hop artists, combining the lyrical prowess of SANITY and Sheffield's Franz Von with TC & The Groove Family’s unique sound. The track blends raw hip-hop grooves with intense jungle beats, spiked with furious horns and immersive turntablism, pushing the boundaries of what we know about UK bass music.

SANITY, known for her work on BBCR1Xtra and SXSW, brings his distinct style to the track. “When I first heard the beat, the term ‘Wile Out’ jumped out at me,” he says. “It’s often used to describe reckless behavior, but we flipped it. Here, it’s about using your energy to challenge the status quo, embracing individuality, and striving for greatness.” Franz Von shares this sentiment, adding, “‘Wile Out’ is about doing what you love and going all out. For me, that’s music. The chorus reflects my mother's advice to enjoy life, love myself, and follow my dreams.”

Following the success of their debut album ‘First Home’, TC & The Groove Family have returned with a deeper, more electronic-driven sound. Producer Tom Excell (Nubiyan Twist, ONIPA) helps the band refine their signature afro-fusion style, infusing it with elements of UK bass, hip-hop, and afro-jazz. The result is a collection of tracks that not only resonate with the current socio-political climate but also uplift listeners, encouraging them to embrace community and individuality.

TC & The Groove Family's diverse musical background has drawn significant attention from tastemakers like Jamz Supernova and Craig Charles on BBC Radio 6, as well as performances at major festivals including Glastonbury, We Out Here, and Boomtown. The band kicks off their UK tour in May, with stops at iconic venues like Band On The Wall in Manchester and The Jazz Café in London.

Get ready to ‘Wile Out’ on May 9th. This track is a must-listen for anyone who loves high-energy beats, thought-provoking lyrics, and a fresh perspective on hip-hop and jungle. Keep an eye out for the release of the full ‘We Have Each Other’ EP on June 7th, because if ‘Wile Out’ is any indication, it's going to be a wild ride.
