Niall Logue: a Glimpse into His 2025 Album

With his latest single, Better Man, Niall Logue takes a bold step forward in his musical evolution. As the second release from his highly anticipated 2025 album, The Oh So Sonic Sound-Wave, the track weaves together themes of love, loss, and self-discovery with atmospheric soundscapes reminiscent of Chris Isaak and Cigarettes After Sex. Haunting yet deeply introspective, Better Man showcases Logue’s ability to craft immersive, emotionally charged music that lingers long after the last note. With this release, anticipation for the full album only continues to grow.

1. Your new track, Out Of Hand, draws inspiration from bands like The National, Interpol, and The Strokes. What is it about the New York indie rock and post-punk revival sound that resonates with you?

They’re songs have this gritty edge to their sound that you can hear throughout their tracks. Especially in the guitar tones and in the vocal performances which really resonated with me. It’s definitely my most descriptive chorus I’ve written, which these bands inspired me to do.

2. The song explores the emotional turbulence of unraveling relationships and friendships. Was there a specific experience or moment that inspired the lyrics?

For me, it was definitely looking back at these experiences which inspired the lyrics. I do feel they are very relatable, when it comes to speaking about the frustration that can be caused when things don’t go the way you had planned. I believe this can also be heard in the music within the tones and how it plays with dynamics.

3. You describe Out Of Hand as a modern-day Go Your Own Way. How did you approach balancing heartbreak and liberation in the songwriting and production process?

I feel the way Lindsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac capture the sound is very raw and true to the emotion that is being expressed, which I’ve tried to emulate in my own song. I’ve used Go Your Own Way as a foundation, to create a song in this style. I think for me I’ve really tried from a production standpoint to capture an raw, acoustic atmosphere that also blends more upbeat characteristics.

4. Your music blends timeless influences with your own distinct style. How do you go about shaping a sound that feels both nostalgic and fresh?

I feel they both come from the writing, where you're taking all these different sounds you like and combining them to create something new. The blending of these different genres and eras I feel helps keep it fresh and moving this sound into the modern day.

5. With Out Of Hand dropping on February 28th, what’s next for you? Can fans expect more releases or live shows in the near future?

I have a few more tunes in my pocket that I’m ready to release throughout the year which I’m very excited about and can’t wait to share. As well, I’ve got my first show back on March 1st with This Feeling at The Water Rats in London. Very much looking forward to it as it’s my first gig with my live band.
