Isabel Abbott: The Rising Star Bridging Soulful Pop and R&B

Isabel Abbott, the Spanish-born, Manchester-based singer-songwriter, is making waves with her new single “Can I Call You Rose?”, and the buzz is undeniable. With a voice that sits somewhere between Jorja Smith’s soulful allure and Adele’s emotional depth, Abbott is set to make a serious impact on the music scene. Recorded at the iconic RAK Studios, where legends like Rihanna and Sam Smith have laid down tracks, her emotionally charged debut is already turning heads—garnering over 36 million views on Instagram and TikTok.

Leaving behind the sun-soaked streets of Valencia for the rain-soaked city of Manchester, Abbott’s journey speaks to her fierce determination and vision. With more than 1,200 pre-saves and international listeners tuning in, "Can I Call You Rose?" promises to solidify her as a force to be reckoned with in both the UK and beyond.

"Can I Call You Rose?" has gained an incredible 36.7 million views and 3.1 million likes across Instagram and TikTok. What was your initial reaction when you saw the viral response to your cover, and how did it influence your decision to release an official version?

I had been posting videos on TikTok for like 3 years, so I was in absolute shock the day it started going viral. When I saw the number of views kept going up I thought it had to stop soon, but then it kept going. The demand for a second version made me want to put it out. So many people were so excited to listen to my  version of this track I had to make it for them, and hope that they stay for my original music :)

You recorded "Can I Call You Rose?" in Studio 1 at Rak Studios, where iconic artists like Rihanna, Adele, and Sam Smith have worked. How did the atmosphere and history of the studio impact your creative process and performance?

It feels so surreal to be in the same space as such icons in the industry, I feel like there’s magic in that studio and I can't believe I had the chance to sing there. To this day I view that day as one of the best days of my life, so I think the energy in that recording is very pure.

Your sound is described as a blend of soulful R&B and pop, with inspirations from artists like Jorja Smith, Billie Eilish, and Rosalía. How do these influences shape your music, and what unique elements do you bring to the table as a rising artist in this genre?

I think the element I bring to the table being bilingual is the way I flow easily in between languages. It comes naturally to me and feels like a natural development in my music. I dont think a lot of artists right now are doing modern pop like Billie Eilish but with hints of Spanish. So Im here to kind of bridge that gap :)

You’ve been performing live at renowned venues like Troy Bar in Shoreditch. How does the experience of performing live with a band compare to recording in a studio, and how do both experiences contribute to your growth as an artist?

I’ve always preferred the feeling of being on stage above everything else. As a musician and a writer nothing beings me more joy than sharing my art with people and having a receptive audience. Performing at venues like Troy Bar is helping me a lot, as the audiences are so encouraging and keep reminding me of why I do what I do.
