Introducing: Marc Todd
Marc Todd is back with a bang! Known for his emotive, stripped-back style and dynamic storytelling, the London-based singer-songwriter is set to release his electrifying new single, ‘Hey, What You Got To Say?’ on November 6th. This thunderous track combines gritty, tongue-in-cheek imagery with Marc’s signature acoustic flair, serving as a powerful preview of his forthcoming second album.
With a career that’s soared since 2017, Marc’s journey through the grassroots music scene has seen him grace iconic venues like O2 Islington and support renowned artists like Joanna Wang. His previous work has drawn comparisons to Kasabian and Bobby Gillespie, and his latest single promises a continuation of his knack for blending raw lyricism with unforgettable melodies.
Whether it’s festival stages, radio sessions, or intimate acoustic sets, Marc Todd is a force to be reckoned with, and ‘Hey, What You Got To Say?’ solidifies his place as one of the UK’s most exciting indie talents.
Echo & The Bunnymen- The Killing Moon
A track that will always have a special meaning to me. I remember listening to this on an old cd player on the way to school on the bus. It was listening to this band that really got me into 80’s bands and writing lyrics to the best of my ability. It really does have that perfect 80’s sound.
Oasis- Lord Don’t Slow Me Down
I’ve always loved Oasis and the songs they sing. It’s sung from the heart and the lyrics are universal. It’s a track that everyone can relate to. Definitely gets everyone going when you play this live. You can certainly hear the influence on some of my tracks. It’s music that really gets people going.
The Doors-Soul Kitchen
When I first started listening to The Doors, I was really into 60’s music and wanted more to explore. I loved the lyrics, the vibe and the general feeling. It was totally up my street and I found that they are a great band to get into and delve deep into their lesser known tracks.
Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever-Tidal River
A friend introduced me to RBCF and I was instantly impressed with their cool vocals and guitar riffs. It made me want to get all my guitar pedals out again and start riffing and coming up with new ideas. This kind of progression in songwriting , really inspires me to push boundaries.
Big Thief- Certainty
I can remember when I heard this band. I was first aware of them when the 5th album: Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You came out. I still think it’s one of the best songs that I've ever heard. The lyrics are so powerful and the way the harmonies, music and vocals work together as one.
