With hauntingly beautiful melodies and captivating rhythms, every beat tells a story—taking you on a ride through both the highs and the lows. Recently praised for its infectious, big chorus and supported by Romania's biggest record label, HØLLØWED is a name to watch in 2025, bringing listeners both a release and a connection through music.
AVICII - Wake Me Up
It would be impossible not to list this as the main inspiration behind the song. It seems mad, even now - that Tim was able to fuse these two genres together in the way that he did. In 2024, country music was everywhere. The only thing missing were the crossover tracks like this. And that’s what made me want to give this style a try.
One Republic - I Ain’t Worried
When I first started writing the song, I was looking at uplifting bands such as One Republic and Imagine Dragons. I wanted it to sound like a group performance. To me, I always feel if there are more voices singing the same section, it tells people when to sing along. In doing that, I feel I made an anthem. When a curator told me they felt this was something Ryan Tedder would have written - that was the biggest compliment. Also, I’m a fan of whistling in songs - don’t ask me why, but I’ve released two already!
The Motans, Irina Rimes - POEM
Ask anyone who knows me. Like, really knows me - and they’ll tell you all the same thing.. that I am obsessed with Romanian/Moldovan pop music. There is so much to learn from the melody’s, the writing. Everything is so beautiful. Even if they’re writing about heartbreak. This song serves as an adorable example of how to make a song certified to get stuck in your head.
And I honestly love Irina Rimes to bits. She has this free spirit to her and her voice. She will wander across genres and surprise you with combinations you could never dream of. And that’s something I think of every time I put pen to paper (or thumb to screen if I’m jotting down on my phone!)
Robin Schulz - Show Me Love
This track would probably appear in many lists for a lot of my songs. This song is a benchmark for me. How the melody feels - like ACTUALLY feels when the chords change and you’re listening to it in a club, or your car, or with headphones on. It’s beautiful and the feeling I get from listening to this is how I would like any or all of my tracks to feel. The song doesn’t rely on a drop or a hook of sorts. Sung on its own, or with a guitar - it’s just a bloody good pop song to sing along to.
Gigi D’Agostino - La Passion
There are few who are able to make a contagious ear worm as well as Gigi D’Agostino. He has a clear signature style, that has defined a lot of the Euro dance genre. La Passion is unique in the sense that it doesn’t drop, it goes round and round without losing interest or momentum. It’s this energy that I tried to bring to Never Fade. There’s no let down, every space is used and it’s short enough to leave you wanting to play it again (I hope!)
