Getting To Know: Circadia
Circadia is quickly making a name for themselves with their captivating blend of rock and classic metal elements. Formed in 2023, the band—comprised of lead vocalist Mecia, lead guitarist Mark, bassist Buster, guitarist Craig, and drummer Josh—has been winning over fans with infectious melodies and introspective lyrics.
Their debut single "Condemned" has already garnered attention, showcasing their seamless fusion of gargantuan guitar riffs, pulsing rhythms, and evocative vocals. Drawing from a wide array of musical influences, Circadia creates an immersive experience that is both powerful and memorable.
As they continue to evolve and refine their sound, Circadia is poised to make a lasting impact on the local music scene. With a genuine passion for their craft and an unwavering commitment to artistic excellence, this is one band to watch as they carve out their place in the musical landscape.
1. Circadia has quickly gained a reputation for blending rock and classic metal elements in a unique way. Can you share the creative process behind your debut single ‘Condemned’ and how you achieved that seamless fusion of genres?
We all share a similar music taste with a lot of our main Influences being the same for each member, which really helps the writing process! We all are huge Alter Bridge & Tremonti fans, so I knew the moment I heard the bands riffs that these were a bit of me!
With the above we also have such different streaks that we bring to the writing process too; I am a lover of female vocalists and layering harmonies, bringing in that slight Evanescence vibe.

2. Your lyrics have been described as introspective and evocative. What are some of the central themes or messages you aim to convey through your music, and how do they reflect your personal experiences or influences?
Lyrically, everything I have written has been based on either my own personal battles I have faced in the past, or things I am going through at that time. Some days you have absolutely no idea whats going to come out, then before you know it you’ve displayed your entire feelings out there for the world to see! I think it’s part of it though, to be vulnerable like that with your emotions. Music makes us feel, so how can you write without being true to how you feel?
The music we have is often heavy, so it’s easy to get aggressive with it! So it’s not unknown for me to try & put the world to rights!

3. Each band member brings their own distinct musical background to Circadia. How do you collaborate during the songwriting and recording process to ensure each member's influences are represented in your music?
For the most part, new song ideas are usually introduced in rough demo form from myself. This could be anything from full song ideas, to specific sections of a song. Mecia will lay down some rough vocals over them so we can get an idea of where the song might go, but it's not until we get in the room together and we start playing with structures and fuse it all together so it sounds like "Circadia". Sometimes this will be minor tweaks here and there, or other times the song will evolve significantly when we're all in the same room creating!
We'll then go off and re-record the demo and iterate on this until we have something we are happy with!
We've actually only recorded the one EP so far. But the songs were pretty locked in before we went to the studio.
In the end, our goal is to create music that is authentic to each members style and still sound like Circadia.

4. Since forming in 2023, you’ve managed to build a fresh fan base and gain attention in the local music scene. What have been some of the biggest challenges and triumphs you’ve experienced as an emerging band, and how have they shaped your journey so far?
I think the biggest challenge has been building the online fan base. Thankfully we had a little bit of a head start thanks to Mecia's already established followers via her covers band Beautiful Dangerous. Mark has put a lot of time in submitting the songs to various Spotify playlists in the hope of gaining more listeners. The videos that were shot by our good friend Daniel Maslanka and our social posts have also been a big contributing factor in getting the band out there.
Having Condemned picked up by Alyx Holcombe and played on Radio One's Rock Introducing was incredible! It's all been a crazy positive response so far and we are super thankful. Our first 3 shows we played to over 200 people in the East Anglia Metal To the Masses competition. Being in multiple originals bands before these kinds of things just don't happen so early on. All of these experiences and positive vibes have left the band super humbled and feeling like there is a place for us in the local musical landscape. We look forward to building upon this and producing more music for everyone.

5. With the rapid evolution of your sound and growing recognition, what are Circadia’s future plans? Are there any upcoming projects, tours, or collaborations that fans can look forward to in the near future?
Our main focus is to continue to grow an online following. We feel this is the best approach given the whole world is online, we have had streams far and wide. We are currently writing and hoping to record in early-mid 2025.
By pushing our online presence we are looking to do some festivals in summer 2025, maybe get some support slots along the way. Collaboration's is not something we have explored but never say never. We are excited to see what 2025 brings!
