Electric Circus: Tracks That Shaped Our Sound

Newcastle's alt-rock powerhouse, Electric Circus, kicks off 2024 with a bang as they unleash their latest anthem, "Obsession," set to drop on February 1st. This electrifying track marks the band's eighth release, showcasing their relentless commitment to delivering powerful and raucous rock melodies.

"Obsession" not only embodies Electric Circus' signature heavy rock vibe but also introduces a heavier twist, paying homage to the bands that inspired each member to pursue music. The song serves as a testament to the band's evolution while staying true to their distinctive sound.

Describes the creative process behind "Obsession," the band stated, "It felt very creative, like we could journey into new sonic territories while staying true to ourselves." Produced by Lee at In Heart Studios, the track promises to deliver the high-quality music Electric Circus fans have come to expect. We spoke to them about the tracks that shaped their sound, here's hwo it went down:

Iron Maiden - The Trooper

It should be no surprise to learn we love Maiden. We hope that our songs exude energy and have an air of theatrics to boot in an homage to them and the influence they have had on us. We don’t have an Eddie but have always dreamt from a young age of having a stage show and presence like Maiden do! To really bring it home how influential they were for us, one of our bass players first gigs was actually Iron Maiden, where he got to sit on the drum kit before the show! (Our drummer is very jealous).

Black Sabbath - War Pigs

The infectious grooves and amazing sense of melody really opened our eyes growing up, as well as the crushing heaviness of the riffs. It is undeniable that Black Sabbath have helped influence all of us, if not the whole music scene since their inception. Unforgivingly forging their own path in market that did not want them initially, we as a band have taken this to heart and hope to do the same. For the rhythm section especially they're on a pedestal and the apex of the triangle in terms of pockets of groove and a deluge of heaviness.

Bon Jovi - Raise Your Hands

Who doesn’t love a bit of 80’s hair metal? It’s certainly undeniable within this band that direct influence has came straight from these 80’s rockers! Whether that be the anthemic choruses that you can’t help but sing along to, or the heavy rock guitars that keep you jumping and bouncing along the way. This band has been instrumental in not only inciting our love for music but also really helping us to develop a stage show and deliver a live performance that a crowd deserves, just as they have been doing for the last 40 years. This band was key for our lead singer growing up and helping him to develop his on stage presence.

Muse - Plug In Baby

This three piece have been in our minds and hearts for as long as we can remember! From there soaring highs that they produce with Bellamy’s guitar and vocals do the grittiest and dirtiest of bass lines as well as the ever present precision pounding of there drummer there’s nobody quite like Muse for us.  This band were hugely influential in proving to us as young men growing up that is was not just the old guard who could rock hard, but that a new wave was coming of just as hardcore rock, but with a 21st century vibe to it, that has undeniably helped to shape the musical tonality of all of us.
