Documentary that Spotlights the Work of Female Electronic Music Pioneers to Premiere Next Month

Next month, a new documentary all about the work of female pioneers in electronic music is set to premiere at The Barbican Theatre. Entitled 'Sisters with Transistors, the film will feature sound designer, composer, and record label executive Suzanne Cianni, original Doctor Who theme composer Delia Derbyshire, composition software creator Laurie Spiegel, and theremin originator Clara Rockmore.

Speaking about the film, Spiegel explained: “We women were especially drawn to electronic music when the possibility of a woman composing was in itself controversial. Electronics let us make music that could be heard by others without having to be taken seriously by the male dominated Establishment.”
