Carolyn: A Fresh Voice with a Story to Tell

Carolyn is a rising artist embarking on an exciting new chapter with her pilot single, Spaceship, set for release in November 2024. Hailing from Greater Manchester, Carolyn has been crafting songs since the age of 11, turning late-night laptop recordings into a passion for music that’s shaped her journey.

At 16, she independently wrote, produced, and released her first album during lockdown, and in 2023, she joined an indie-pop band, showcasing her talents on powerful tracks like a breakup anthem co-written while busking in Canterbury.

Armed with a songwriting and music production degree from BIMM Manchester, Carolyn launched her first EP, This Time of Year, in December 2024. The festive title track earned her debut airplay on BBC Radio 1’s 100% Christmas show.

Now in 2025, Carolyn is ready to share even more original music, collaborating with diverse artists and producers while building a sound that’s uniquely her own. With an authentic voice and boundless potential, Carolyn is one to watch.

Ariana Grande - thank u next

This song came out when i was in my last year of high school and ever since then, this song and the album that came with it inspired me to push my music production skills. I am a huge Ariana fan, always have been, and seeing her talk about producing her own music along with social house during the press around ‘thank u next’ really pushed me to exploring new plug-ins and since then Omnisphere has made an appearance on most of my songs!

Sabrina Carpenter - santa doesn’t know you like i do

When Isaac and I met up in September to discuss plans and sounds for the soon-to-be Christmas EP, we very quickly started talking about Sabrina Carpenter and her amazing success this year. Her festive EP ‘fruitcake’ from last year was something we kept coming back to, especially this song! I love the 80s influences and it’s a beautiful track.

Daniel Caesar - Japanese Denim

A lot of the EP sounds were inspired by modern R&B, particularly Daniel. I think you can hear it most in ‘this time of year’, we really had a lot of fun making this track and the soundscape for it. Daniel Caesar’s work really inspires me to leave space for lyrics to linger while songwriting and I think it’s something that worked so well on this EP.

Madison Cunningham - John Wayne

I cannot go a day without recommending Madison to someone, she is honestly the best songwriter and performer I have EVER seen! I watched her supporting John Mayer last spring and my partner and I felt that she upstaged him massively haha. This track hit me emotionally when I first listened to it, the soundscape with her vocals is so beautifully unreal. I love the way she writes and uses her vocals to tell stories, and if you can, you should try to catch her live!

Hard Life with Arlo Parks - Sangria

The band formerly known as ‘Easy Life’ released this whilst I was at BIMM college in Manchester and I remember hearing it for the first time at a house party and instantly asking snapchat to find out what the song was haha. Ever since that moment I became a huge fan of the band, and they have influenced my style heavily. During lockdown, they even gave me mixing advice via fb messenger! I’ve seen them live a couple times now and it’s always a party - they have a really wholesome fanbase too!
