carina announces 'after the stars' EP & shares 'no use' video
London's burgeoning teenage pop star, carina, is ready to take the music world by storm once again with the announcement of her highly anticipated sophomore EP, 'after the stars,' set to release on August 11th. Alongside this exciting news, carina unveils her brand new single, 'no use,' accompanied by an official video, released through the independent imprint Don't Sleep.
With the 8-track EP 'after the stars,' carina invites listeners on yet another introspective journey into her remarkable mind. Despite her young age, carina consistently delivers a body of work that surpasses expectations. Every song is an artistic expression of her soul, turning her emotions into a captivating coming-of-age narrative. "'after the stars' is definitely an acknowledgment of uncomfortable feelings, emotions that everyone experiences but rarely discusses," carina explains. "If 'spaceout!' was the house party, 'after the stars' is when everyone has gone home, and you're feeling down. To move forward from difficult situations, you must confront the pain, and that's exactly what this project did for me." Through music, carina finds solace in her battles with mental health, using it as a cathartic tool to narrate her life experiences.
Following the success of her previous hits, 'waste me away (demo)' and 'skew wiff,' which garnered attention from various press outlets such as Line of Best Fit, The Forty-Five, Tirade, and Wonderland, carina returns with her latest track, 'no use.' This heartfelt song explores the challenging emotions of unrequited love and loss. carina shares, "As soon as I wrote the song, I lost the feelings I thought would never go away. It's about yearning for a crush who never reciprocates your feelings, and the belief that you'll always feel that way." As a bonus surprise, the track comes with an exclusive B-side that won't be featured on the EP.
carina's music has always been deeply personal, stemming from her own mental health struggles and feelings of disassociation. Through songwriting, she found a perfect outlet to express herself. Initially inspired by the tragic death of her best friend, her music has since evolved into poignant stories of heartache and the challenges of teenage life. carina has been making waves with her unique sound and confident stage presence, captivating audiences at London gigs and esteemed events like The Great Escape Festival. Her breakout debut EP, 'spaceout!,' caught the attention of influential figures, including Steve Lamacq of BBC Radio 6, Jamz Supernova of BBC Radio 1, and BBC Introducing, as well as Clash, Wonderland, Notion, and New Wave. Despite her youth, carina's work reflects a maturity beyond her years. She describes herself as "an old soul expressing her experiences through the lens of a young person." With 2023 poised to be a breakout year for carina, the world eagerly awaits her next artistic chapter.
