Bicep Masterfully Curate Stellar Night at Drumsheds
Renowned duo BICEP took over Drumsheds earlier this month, marking a major return since their closing appearance at Printworks last year, curating a special line-up for The Hydra, with the electronic group bringing their Chroma A/V DJ set to North London, along with some exciting names — the likes of SHERELLE, Special Request, Kelly Lee Owens, Sully, Otik, Kessler all appearing on the line-up.
Sherelle took the roof off with a no-nonsense set that championed everything we love her for, 160 Meanwhile Kelly Lee Owens set saw her traverse between moods, her set fluidly with a rich plethora of soundscapes, landing gradually to intense techno jams. The range of emotion is amplified within each style – silences more pronounced and the noisiest moments more ferocious.
Bicep's recent live shows at London's Printworks and their collaboration with The Hydra at DRUMSHEDS underscore their rising prominence as a household name the electronic music scene. The Belfast duo, hailed as "arguably Belfast's biggest-ever electronic act," showcased their potential to fill the arena-sized shoes of legendary acts like The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers. Taking on Drumsheds was a momentous challenge that well and truly paid off. The colossal venue, was met with sold-out crowds and an electric atmosphere.
A crucial element of the night was the perfectly executed production of it by The Hydra. The duo's performance, set against the stunning backdrop of elemental visuals and a kaleidoscopic Bicep logo, primarily focused on their 2022 debut album. Despite occasional deviations, such as a house jam and a thumping techno track, the connection with the audience remained strong. The rectangular lighting panels formed a cube of mesmerizing visuals, enhancing tracks like "Rain," "Higher Level," and "Vale”, whilst teasing upcoming release Helium.
The recent collaboration with The Hydra at DRUMSHEDS promises to be a seismic shakeup in London's underground music scene. Bicep's CHROMA A/V DJ presentation and the venue's three vast spaces will host a stellar lineup featuring Daphni, Clark, SHERELLE, Marcel Dettmann, and more. This event, a testament to The Hydra's 11-year impact on club culture, ensures an unparalleled audio-visual experience. With striking lights, captivating visuals, and a diverse musical journey, Bicep's presence at DRUMSHEDS continues to shape the future of London's electronic music landscape.
