BabyStep Essentials: Moving Still

Saudi-Irish DJ and producer Moving Still returns with his latest EP, Close to the Shams, out now via Bordello A Parigi. Named after an Arabic phrase meaning “Close to the Sun,” the EP is a deeply personal project inspired by the changing of the seasons and the birth of his daughter. Across four tracks, he seamlessly fuses percussive Dabke rhythms with Italo disco influences, pumping house grooves, breaks, and his signature arpeggiated basslines.
To celebrate the release, Moving Still hosted an exclusive launch event at Dublin’s Fidelity Studio, where he was joined by Tara Kumar, Sally Cinnamon, Sahana, and Mango. The new EP follows his acclaimed Ouddy Bangers Vol 2 and Ouddy Bangers Vol 1, cementing his reputation as a producer who masterfully bridges cultural and electronic soundscapes.
Beyond the club, Moving Still invites listeners to immerse themselves in his world with a specially curated playlist designed to be enjoyed alongside Dates and Tea. This unique sonic pairing brings his music into a new sensory dimension, blending taste, aroma, and sound into a singular experience.
Speaking about the release, Moving Still shares: “Close to the Shams is a reflection of change, nostalgia, and new beginnings. I wanted to capture the warmth of the sun and the emotions tied to life’s transitions, especially with the arrival of my daughter. I hope these tracks bring people together in celebration, whether on the dance floor or in quieter moments with loved ones.”
Moving Still curated a playlist for BabyStep to enjoy with some Dates and Tea, we hope you enjoy it as much as us:
