24 hours In The City: Inner-City Electronic Comes to Leeds Once Again this Weekend
Well it's finally here again, after months of waiting Inner City Electronic has returned to Leeds for the second year running. The Multi venue festival taking place this weekend have announced the location of their 2019 festival hub and wristband exchange, with a unique site in the heart of the city centre also hosting a selection of must see artists from this years festival line up. Leeds’ much loved promotion outfit ‘Flux' will present the line-up at this historic site outside the Leonardo Building on Rossington Street that until now has never been used for an event.
Once again the festival boasts an eclectic roster of selectors from the likes of Motor City Drum Ensemble to local legends Nightmares On Wax, Ralph Lawson & more set to perform at a one off outdoor site in Leeds city centre. We talked to festival curator Ben Thomson who told us all about the new features of the one-day event this year round. "The team have been working hard behind the scenes to make this happen and we’re excited to have the opportunity to bring something unique to the site ahead of it’s re-development. The fact this is only ever going to happen once makes it event more special”.
inner city electronic will also host the last ever show at Church Leeds on June 1st, with the venue recently announcing it’s closure. In just two short years Church became an internationally acclaimed club, nominated for ‘Best Venue’ in the 2018 DJ Mag awards, with artists including Carl Cox, Floating Points, Green Velvet, Jeff Mills, Kolsch & many more all playing memorable sets in the picturesque 18th century Church.
Leeds based DJ Ralph Lawson talked of the significance of the venue and what it will add to the festival: "I’ve been personally attached to Church since it's inception and I’m sure looking back in a few years time the best nights there will be the stuff of legends. We will be bringing the full glory of the building to life with Leeds based visual artist Paul Miller projection mapping the historic building as well as fine tuning the awesome L’Acoustics Kara soundsystem to perfection.”
The final dance will see Nina Kraviz headline alongside Octave One (live), Kelly Lee Owens, DJ Seinfeld & more, with the venues instigator Dave Beer set to play the final record.
We will see you there!
